Life insurance is not a topic that any of us think about at all. Especially in our 20s. We just want to get by another day. We certainly don’t want to think about dying or passing away. We definitely don’t think about the strain that our deaths would place on our families. The expenses of a funeral are not cheap at all.

So let’s say that you’ve found your first job. You’re happy. You’re now making good money and are slowly getting ahead. You can save some money and don’t have to stress about living paycheck to paycheck any longer.

Let’s look at a few common questions about life insurance…

Why should you buy life insurance at a young age?

You get better rates. The younger you are, the better life insurance premiums that you’ll likely receive. You don’t want to wait around until your older or your health starts to deteriorate to look for life insurance. Look into it now that you’re young and feeling on top of the world.

It’s also important to note that you don’t have to have a wife and children to make life insurance worth it. Most young people won’t think about insurance until they have kids or get married. You don’t have to wait. You likely have loved ones. Take care of them. You don’t need a family with five kids to be in the market for life insurance. Your first job is the best time to jump on any life insurance you can get.

You can click this link for more information on life insurance. There are many different policies and options. You can find one that’s just right for your current situation.

How will life insurance help you in your 20s?

If you buy a home or plan on buying one, it’s important to look into life insurance. This will help protect your investment. If you’re the breadwinner for the household, chances are that your family might struggle with the mortgage payments if you were to die. This is why it helps to have a policy in place to deal with this. You don’t want to have your family moving or being forced to sell the place when you pass on. It sucks to think about, but it’s the reality of life.

A life insurance policy can also help out with clearing up any debts. You really don’t want to leave these behind for your family that might be already struggling. The last thing you want your family to worry about in the event of your passin is paying your debts off.

You should check out Suncorp life insurance for more. It never hurts to be insured and to have a plan.

This is why life insurance is important with your first job. Don’t wait. Jump on it ASAP! Look into your options and see what’s the best move for you and your family.

Are you a young person looking for a summer job? Are you not sure of what types of jobs to apply for?

With the summer temperatures here, I’m reminded of some of my past summer jobs. I’ve held a summer job every single year ever since I can remember. I’ve always been a greedy kid.

We already looked at jobs to avoid. There are certain jobs that should be avoided. But today, we’re going to look at the opposite side of the spectrum here. Let’s look at my top summer jobs that I worked.

Lawn care.

I cut grass, watered plants, and did all sorts of lawn care for elderly people in my community.

The job was fun at times. I got paid $7/hour and grass grows pretty fast in the summer months. Some folks were a pain to deal with. They would hustle me and get the most work out of me in a one hour period. Then they would pay me $7 and send me home.

Others folks were a pleasure. Some just wanted someone to hang out with. One really ill gentleman paid me just to water his plants. I would sit down for hours with the sprinkler running. Pretty sweet.

Soccer referee.

Do you enjoy soccer? Do you want to get paid to exercise?

I really enjoyed being a soccer referee because I love playing and watching the game. I was also pretty happy with the pay. If I could do two games in an evening I would earn myself $45. Not bad for an evening of soccer.

Most of the games were in my area and I would ride my bike to work. There was never a shortage of exercise involved. I was always outdoors and I got to meet lots of folks.

Plus, there may have or may not have been a few occasions where I worked games that my brothers paid on. Conflict of interest? Perhaps. But that’s our little secret.

Paper boy.

I was a paper boy for like ten years. I got the job when I was in like grade 2 or something like that. I delivered the newspaper in my community.

The job didn’t pay a fortune, but I believe I made $200 a month or so. I had to deliver the paper on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. It was tough on Fridays because after school I really didn’t want to spend the evening working. I wanted to play soccer with my friends or just hang out. The most annoying part was actually putting the flyers into the paper and organizing everything at home. It was really messy and would take hours at time. Why didn’t they put the flyers in for me? Wtf?

The good part of the job was that I stayed active (even in the winter) and I knew everyone in the community. Everyone knew me and it was pretty fun. If I have kids, I’m definitely going to make them deliver flyers since I had to go through it.

Those were my favorite summer jobs. Applying for them is a different story. Every job has its own application process. To get into lawn care, I found it through an organization in my community that setup elderly citizens with young people to cut their grass. To become a paper boy I saw an ad in the newspaper. To become a soccer ref, I had to earn my certification.

What are some of your favorite jobs? Are there any jobs that you would suggest that the young people reading this apply for?

“A desk is a dangerous place from which to view the world.” ― John le Carré

Have you attended a conference related to your field in the past? When you’re sitting at home by yourself, it feels like it’s you vs the world. When you meet up with like-minded people and see that a whole small army exists out there, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Have you been to a life-changing conference?

If yes, then you know the benefits already.

If not, then you’re totally missing out.

Let’s the ball rolling here…

What are the main benefits of attending a conference?

Let’s see here, the main benefits:

Make friends.

It doesn’t matter how many friends you have right now, it’s about meeting different kinds of folks and some like-minded individuals. At every conference I’ve been to, I’ve made at least one new friend. You open yourself open to making tons of new friends.

Who will you meet?

Find work.

You can find a job by meeting the right person. Every single person at a conference as a different agenda. One person could be looking to hire. Another person could be lost. The next person could be there for the free food and free booze.

On the flip side, you can give someone work. Maybe you need to hire someone? Perhaps you can outsource a piece of work that you’ve been dragging your feet on?

Reinvigorate your passions.

Every single time I leave a passion, I leave refreshed and full of new ideas.

A conference will likely boost your passions to record high new levels. You’ll feel on top of the world and ready to take on the world. Don’t let your passion fade away!

Get sent on the right path.

I can be pretty clueless at times. The beauty of a conference is that one person there has likely done something that you want to do. There’s someone there that has cleared the path for you. Your job is to figure out how they did it and what they did. They can send you on the right path.

What sort of conference should you attend?

I’ve been to all sorts of conferences in the last few years.

The lamest type of conference is the one that your work forces you to attend. You know the deal here. You have to stay awake with the cheap coffee. The presentations are boring and you don’t want to be there. I don’t want to be reminded of these.

The best type of conference is the one in your field or in something that you’re crazy about.

This is the type of conference that I want you to attend. Start looking. Start asking around. See what events are coming up and how you can get in on them. Don’t be shy. Everyone else is in the same boat as you.

I wish you all the best at your first conference this year. Get out there and own it!

There are certain jobs that you need to watch out for when you’re in your 20s. You likely just want to find work. You search high and low. You want to find anything. You just want to finally get paid.

This is where problems arise. Your judgment may not be at its best. You may consider accepting a job that you know isn’t right for you. There are jobs that you should just watch out for.

What jobs should you avoid so that you don’t get scammed?

Anything that claims to be marketing.

I love marketing and persuasive writing. I love sales. I love to promote myself.

The problem is that there are too many fake “marketing” jobs out there. I’m sure that some of you have experienced this in the past.

I once had a classmate tell me about how they got scammed into thinking that they would be marketing. In reality, the company brought them to a community and told them to try to sell random crap. They were doing door-to-door sales. Not exactly marketing.

Selling crap is not marketing work. You’re all smart enough to know this. The problem is that these companies offer the potential to make thousands per day for promoting their products. I doubt it. I’m yet to meet anyone that has achieved these results. The best case scenario is usually a few bucks and a whole day wasted.

A job that “anyone” can do.

Have you seen this in a job posting? RUN!

There’s no such thing as a job that anyone can do. You always need some specific skills to get the job done.

Yes anyone can become a doctor or accountant. Anyone can accomplish their goals. But the qualifications for these jobs shouldn’t be just anyone.

Think about it: would you want to workout with a personal trainer that got hired by a job posting that said anyone can do it? Nope.

Not just anyone should just be a candidate. It has to be a little more specific.

A job without a description.

When I get hired to write articles, I write articles. I know what I have to do and by when I have to do it. There’s no guessing involved.

Actually, all jobs have a description for what you have to do in order to complete your shift and get paid. It’s a pretty simple concept.

If the job that you’re applying for or have been offered doesn’t come with a description, well then, what the hell are you going to be doing? It baffles me that these postings still go up. Please try to avoid them.

Do you really want to show up somewhere not knowing what you’re going to be doing?

You want to get paid for what you do. You don’t want to get scammed or work for free. It’s one thing if you work for yourself and hustle while you try to grow the business. It’s another thing when someone tries to con you into working for free.

Are there any other jobs that we should all avoid?

We all know that we could use some money. Yet we ever really do much about it. Today I wanted to try something different. I want us to find a way to make some money around the house. I don’t want you to worry about going back to college for four years or investing thousands of dollars into some hot investment. Today we’re going to look at how you can make money around the house.

What can you do within your home to make money? How could you put some extra money together without even stepping outside of your place?

Post an ad on Kijiji or anywhere else.

Do you have any skills? Do you have anything that you could do for money? Of course you do. We all have skills that are in demand. Even if you speak the English language, there are those that want to learn. There’s always something that you can market. Now it’s your chance to make money doing something that you’re good at or teaching others.

I want you to place an ad on Kijiji to promote something that you can offer.

One of my buddies offers guitar lessons online. Personal trainers often promote their park workouts and training regimens on the Internet.

The best part is that you’ll never have to worry about bothering people or being annoying You can take your ad down. Those that are interested will come to you.

Look for stuff to sell.

We all have lots of stuff around the house that we no longer need or use. Why not try selling it to see what you can get? If you’ve seen any of the antique shows, you’ll know that there’s demand out there for some of the strangest things possible. Do you have something worth any money?

You can sell gold jewelry or other items that you’re no longer using. We all have something that we don’t need, yet someone else out there would love to get their hands on.

What can you sell for a decent profit?

Take advantage of rebates.

This is a silly one but it’s true. Too many of us have forms laying around for rebates and so on. Companies offer rebates and rebate coupons in hopes that nobody uses them. I’ve caught myself throwing out papers only to realize that I’m potentially holding money in my hands. I had so many old rebate forms that I needed to fill out to college on the money that was promised to me.

It’s funny how we forget to do something as simple as fill out a form. I want you to take a few minutes to go over old paperwork to see if there’s anything valuable collecting dust.

What can you do around the house this week to make some money? The best part is that you don’t even have to put socks on. Who wants to wear socks in the summertime? When you make some money, you can go back to enjoying yourself around the house.
