Check out BudgetPulse's new feature!

For those looking at budgeting tools, there is a new feature over at BudgetPulse.com. They now have online fundraising capability. How can this be a help for some? Craig Kessler from Budget Pulse explains:

BudgetPulse.com is a free personal finance website offering customers the ability to set savings goals and then have their family and friends directly contribute funds (via PayPal or Amazon) or pledge money to their goals helping them out.  The goals can then be tracked for and integrated with the transactions involved within their personal budget allowing users to raise money and budget in one centralized location.

I think this can be a useful to for some families. Besides collectively saving for college expenses, weddings, or house down payment, it can be a great tool to pool resources for a group charity.

Weekly Round Up: Washer and Dryer Edition

By: Green Panda | Date posted: April 27, 2008 (10:34 am)

Yesterday my husband and I got a washer and dryer for the apartment. The total cost was around $190. We got the pair from Craigslist for $150. We asked a friend if we could borrow his truck and we paid $20 to cover using his gasoline.

The gentleman who sold the washer and dryer kept them in good condition. His wife just bought a new set and they needed to get rid of the older one. We just needed to get a new hose for the dryer and another hose for the washer. That was about $20 to get them from Lowe‘s.

The hardest part was getting it to our apartment which is on the third floor! To be honest, my back is a bit sore from the move. A kindly neighbor helped us move the washer, which was very much appreciated.

Installing a washer and dryer wasn’t too bad. You just need to put the hoses and plugs in the right spots. I’m happy we got this used set, as the cost of renting one for the apartment would be $20/month or more (depends on who you rent it from).

Since I’m relaxing at home for a bit, I decided to share some of my favorite post from his week:

I hope everyone’s weekend is going well. My brother is coming to visit this afternoon so I’m looking forward to hanging with him.

How to Remove Your Phone Number Off of Google

By: Green Panda | Date posted: February 08, 2008 (12:50 pm)

Google Knows Where You Are

Do you check random things like I do? I have checked to see if my phone number was listed on the web. I checked my number and it was not listed on Google or ZabaSearch and neither was my husband’s number. Whew, a sigh of relief.

What if it was though? How could I remove my number off of Google?

I did what any self-respect writer does when I posed with a question, I researched. How did I go about this intricate and deep probe? I typed into Google Search “How to Remove Phone Number Off of Google”. Guess who had the #1 answer? Google! It’s not  complicated. Here’s all you have to do:

  • A Phone Icon will be next to your number, click it.
  • Fill out a form requesting that you have your number removed and submit.
  • Wait 48 hours and check to see if it actually was removed.

Note: This is a permanent request. You cannot change your mind and add it later.

Also it should be noted that you may also check to see if any other website has your number (White Pages, etc) and requested them to remove your number.

It’s easy and it only takes a few minutes.

I saw this and I immediately had to put this up on the blog. I can relate to wanting to explore different options in life. I switched majors (twice) and while I’m happy with my current major (Business Management), I don’t want to limit myself to just that identity. He brings out some good points and I hope you take time to read this article.

Tim Ferriss, author of The 4-Hour Workweek offers his take on the upside to being a jack-of-all-trades.

Hey!

I’m just fixing up my blog. I’ll organize it a bit better and try to make it more unified in its theme. I’ve had this blog for almost a year and I noticed that it needed to be less sporadic. I’ll focus on something that is a concern for me and I’m of many other working students, Personal Finance.

How did I realize I needed to change the blog a bit? Easy, when my Top Post is ‘Easiest Clock to Read EVER’ . I do like the clock, but that’s pretty pathetic to have that one top. I’m determined to change that and actually put some real effort into to this.

My goal is to post Monday through Friday with a mix of original posts and commentary on news & stories I find interesting.

If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment!

Profiles of Entrepreneurship

From time to time, I plan on having brief interviews with people with interesting jobs and websites.  My goal is to help expose some fantastic talents that may not get the recognition that they deserve.

My hope is that I can follow these independent spirits throughout their careers and development. If you have any suggestions, please email me.
