How to Save Money on your Grocery BillWith my first real taste of freedom last year I had to take care of my own grocery bill for once. Well let me rephrase that. I had to take care of my own food. This meant that I ate out for the first little while. Now I finally got into the habit of grocery shopping and looking for supermarket savings. Why did I start looking for supermarket savings? Because by eating properly you can save money and lose your belly.

Can you save money and lose weight at the same? Yes you can. That’s why I’m a strong advocate of preparing your own food. What can be better than losing weight and saving money at the same time?

I wanted to share the ways that you can save money on your grocery bill and lose that belly:

Never go shopping hungry.

Do you shop when you’re hungry? Does it even matter when you shop? Yes it does. When you’re hungry you just want to eat. All that you can think about is food. This means that you’ll buy much more food than you need. Your judgment will also be altered while hungry.

This also means that you’re going to eat unhealthy food and keep that belly on for much longer. When you’re hungry you really don’t care about what you eat. Think about for a second. The other day I was so hungry that I ordered two pizza slices and ate them down in like 2 minutes. I would normally not pizza. I was just so hungry that anything would look delicious for me. This is what happens when you go shopping for food all hungry.

Look for deals, but don’t be fooled.

I find that every supermarket offers its own deals. There are many grocery shopping hacks. It’s great to chase deals but it’s not worth driving across town to buy a cheap case of water. Too often do I hear about lame coupon clipping strategies and ways to save a few bucks by shopping at a few different grocery stores. I personally don’t have the time to be going around to different stores. I want to get my groceries done and over with so I can go on with other areas of my life.

Have a large breakfast everyday.

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Yet, we all forget about breakfast because we sleep in and are in a hurry just to get to work on time. We end up blowing money because then we eat whatever we can find when lunch time comes around. This usually means $10 worth of junk. You end up spending more money than you want and you don’t take care of your health needs. This is why a big breakfast is key.

Don’t eat at night time.

I find that my grocery bill skyrockets when I start pigging out at night time. There really is no value to eating late at night. You don’t need the calories and it makes it tougher for you to fall asleep. Yet, we all get stuck with eating late at night. If you can avoid late night snacking you’ll not only save money, but you’ll keep that fat off.

Drink lots of water.

Any time that you think you’re hungry you should try consuming a glass of water instead. It’s funny how important staying hydrated truly is. Instead of spending a fortune on BS weight loss supplements or drinks filled with sugar, you can drink water all day to stay fresh.

Eat many small meals throughout the day.

It’s slowly becoming common sense that it’s more beneficial to your body to eat many small meals throughout the day as opposed to gorging once or twice. I find that snacking throughout the day will keep you slim, energized, and with more money in your pocket.

Split your grocery bill.

I must admit that it’s a bit challenging to prepare food for only one person. Cooking for one is a pain in the butt and you have too many leftovers. When it comes to two people you can prepare some very delicious and balanced meals. Instead of making excuses about preparing meals, consider getting food together with a few friends. This is what we do before we go out. We get a bunch of food and drinks together so that we can have a great time before we head out.

This is how I’ve managed to save money on my grocery bill over time and lose weight while at it. Supermarket savings are not hard to come by. If you put some time into your groceries you’ll find that your wallet and your weight will be much lighter. You also won’t have to spend as much time at the gym as your friends do.
