Yesterday you probably saw on twitter that we went to Duplin’s Winery to take a tour. We headed down there with a couple of friends and had a wonderful time. They give a tour of their production facility followed by tastings of 11 wines and 3 wine kits. The tour and tasting were free and we got a discount on some of the wine we got.
Our tour guide, William, did a fantastic job leading the group through the process.
Here’s our official wine scores (1-5, 5 being great) for the tasting samples. My husband’s scores are in blue.:
- Carlos (3, 3.5)
- Magnolia (4, 3.5)
- Beaufort Bay: (5, 4) This was an estate wine grown right there in Rose Hill.
- Naughty and Nice (3.5, 4)
- Burgundy (3, 3.5)
- Pink Magnolia (5, 4) This was one of my favorites of the tastings. I grabbed a bottle to take home.
- Christmas Wine (3.5, 3)
- Christmas Eve (4, 4)
- Uncorked (4, 5)
- Sweet Caroline (4, 4)
- Blackberry (5, 4) This wine is made with 100% blackberries from Kings Mountain, NC if my notes are correct.
- Peach Bellini Kit (4, 5)
- CosmoRita Kit (4, 5)
- Wine-a-Rita Kit (5,5)
We’re not wine experts by any means, so please take our scores with a grain of salt. This was our first visit to a winery and since it went well, we’re going to go to another vineyard. If you’re looking for something fun, educational, and affordable, I really recommend you visit Duplin.
