Not a bad list. I definitely second Stephanie's suggestion of AAA; they've saved me more than once from troublesome automotive situations. As for what else to keep in your car, it depends on how automotively inclined you are; keeping spark plugs, a spare battery, and other items to fix minor problems could prove to be helpful, at least if you have the talent and inclination to use them.

I wrote a post on this that may provide useful!

Linked <a href="http://www.myliferoi.com/2009/05/roadside-emergency-kit-what-to-include/" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

I went over what you need in each section of Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

It's expensive, but I believe in having an air compressor in your trunk. Nothing like being able to inflate your own tire anywhere! Most of them nowadays also come with a large flash light or other random features, so they're usually worth the price tag.

Another expensive thing to "have" in your car: AAA. It's great because it's tied to YOU, not necessarily your car. And spring for the "Plus" version that lets you be towed more than five miles. I called AAA a few weeks ago when the boyfriend and I were in Niagara Falls and he got a bolt in his tire. We both had AAA, but I had the better one, so we ended up using mine. Also, AAA gave us a half price discount to get the tire replaced at Good Year, so it didn't end up ruining our trip or my boyfriend's wallet!
