In terms of going out though, the best bang for your bucks is happy hour. You can take advantage or drink and apps specials and instead of getting a meal, split a few diff apps between people. That way you get variety, get full, get drinks, have a good time out and don't have to spend like crazy. Also can lead to an earlier night in if that is your plan. Being with people you want to be with makes almost any activity fun. I like the idea of a video/game night.
