My best advice is to not squander your severance package. This is NOT a vacation. Take one or two days (or a weekend) to rant and mourn. After that, finding a job is your new job. Do it 40+ hours a week. File for your unemployment as soon as you legally can. ANY job is better than no job. Those severance and unemployment benefits will run out sooner than you think. This is the time to be scary frugal - make your $ stretch until they scream in protest. You shouldn't be spending a single penny more than you must. Good Luck.
